Hi all *waves* Even though I've been here for a week I just now got around to this... sorry don't kill me Ashley and Robs!

TOTALLY stole this from Ashley LOLCollapse )

Show me your characters!

I tend to figure out my characters before I write, I do character surveys, find a picture of each person, research their names I am insane... lol

anyway for Nano this year I am writing the story that is based of myths of ol' about Zeus' daughter and Hades' son. lol With different names, although they assure you that they are the same people, they have just been given different names over the years.

pictures and such over here!!Collapse )

How do you do?

Hello everyone, my name is Nina, I live in England and I've had a love for writing for as long as I can remember. English isn't strictly my first language but it's been my language of preference ever since I learned it because I simply adore it and all of its shades of meaning, and I now speak it far better than my original language, to my mother's disappointment. I live with my parents and four siblings (holy smokes!) in a very rural part of England full of sheep and cows and rivers. It's a good place for inspiration, I think, although not very exciting at all.

I have several unfinished pieces and have too many ideas to contemplate. I'm that girl that takes a notebook everywhere and scribbles down everything I see and hear in case it comes in handy someday. The piece I am working on at the moment is a fast-paced and fairly lighthearted sci-fi story involving time-travel and pirates.

All right, I'll keep it as short and sweet as that! I look forwards to discussing here and to giving encouragement as well as receiving it. :) Oh, I'm 18 years old and have recently submitted my applications to UCAS, if all goes well hopefully I'll be off to study a degree in English Lang/Lit next September! I am not totally serious about getting published just yet, but to be published some day would be a dream come true. I just hope to improve my writing technique until that day.

Intro Post

Good afternoon everyone! My name is Cait. I'm 25 years old, and I live with my husband of almost 2 years and our adorable cat Matilda (where my username comes from!). I love shopping, cooking and baking (I'm a huge foodie), and of course, writing.

I'm Canadian, but last year moved to California for my husband's job. I'm not allowed to work due to visa restrictions, so I find myself with a lot of free time. It's been several years since I've written anything, unfortunately, but I really want to get back into it. My plan is to get my thoughts flowing again by doing daily writing exercises and perhaps a few short stories.

I'm a little behind everyone, as I'm afraid I'm not even sure what type of story I'd like to write! I love reading historical fiction, and have my B.A. in History, so I may go this route. There are a lot of cool stories passed down through my family that I'd love to incorporate into a novel as well. I guess my goal is very basic at the moment - to sort myself out, figure out what I want to write, and start writing it! Easier said than done ;)

Some favourite books and authors: Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, Dracula by Bram Stoker, any Jane Austen book, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, White Oleander by Janet Fitch, and the Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson

Currently reading: The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent, and loving it!

I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all, and I'm happy to be a part of the community :)

Intro Post

Hi! I'm magyargirl3 , and I'm a college student who loves to write.

Right now, I'm working on a story that involves a civil war in a fictional country called Vorlan. A teacher, his family, and some of his students band together to help fight, and that is the center of the story. It's a story I've been working on for a few years, but, being a student, I can't always get around to writing on it. Plus, I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to tell the story (settled on epistolary narrative), and the characters were hard to figure out, for various reasons. I even gave up on the story for a few months.

Now, I'm back in the game, and I'm glad to find a group that supports writing and lots of it!

Welcome to The Write Choice!

I'd love to write, but I just never have time.

We've all said it at one time or another. We have the best idea for a great new novel or short story that we'd love to write, but never seen to find the time or the motivation to do so. This community is founded on providing the moral support, cheerleading, and occasional tough love necessary to help you start writing (or start writing again).

Nobody wants to hear about my writing.

We do. We want to share advice and tips with other writers, get each other's opinions on writing style and plot arcs and other nitty gritty details that bore our non-writer friends to tears. We want to pick apart that last New York Times bestseller you just know you could have written better...if you put forth the effort. We want to gush with you about getting a story printed in a local magazine or even just finishing that novella that's been sitting on your laptop for years.

The Write Choice is a community for fiction writers of all kinds - beginning or published - who want a place to commiserate with fellow writers, encourage each other in our individual pursuits, and offer advice from our own experience. Whether you're writing a paranormal romance novel or working on an artsy short story for a literary magazine, your input and opinions are valuable to our community. You can expect to find the following types of discussion posts at our community:

- Style and Grammar
- Plot Outlining
- Character Development
- Editing and Manuscript Revising
- Writing for a Genre
- Publication Resources
- Writing Time Management
- Writing Prompts and Creative Inspiration
- Weekly Progress Review
- Author Interviews

The Write Choice is not the place to post your work and receive feedback. We are very concerned for our members' copyright protection and their future ability to publish the stories they've worked so hard on, and for this reason we ask that members not post their stories or links to their stories on this site. Many publishers won't accept submissions that have previously been "published" before, even if only on a website for free. In addition we want to avoid the nasty but unfortunately not unheard of practice of plagiarism by another writer who might read your work here. Please note that The Write Choice is also not a free editing service. If you and another member have privately agreed to read and critique one another's work, we ask that you keep such discussions to personal messages and emails between yourselves.  Finally (and as much as we love fan fiction...) The Write Choice is only for discussion of original writing, not derivative works.

We know this isn't the first or only writing community on LiveJournal, but we could be your writing community. Being good at writing is a gift, but actually becoming a writer takes a choice. We hope you'll choose to write with us :)
